Armstrong Solicitors opened for business in its Monkstown office in June 2009. Before that, Philip Armstrong had operated a partnership in Belfast City Centre which specialised in volume remortgaging and related property matters. From October 2010 we are delighted to be opening a second Newtownabbey office, in Glengormley.

Armstrong Solicitors undertakes many areas of law (as you can see from our services on the left of your screen) and was founded with the purpose of serving the local community’s needs. We are a family firm, like most small businesses in Northern Ireland, and we are proud to offer a service to our clients that is friendly and efficient, in modern well-equipped offices.

Philip Armstrong LL.B. - Principal
Philip qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and worked in a number of regional practices, latterly as a partner until he became self-employed in 2005. He was a partner and later the principal in The A M Partnership, before jointly founding ALB Solicitors in the City Centre in 2007. From practicing as a general practice solicitor early in his career, Philip has spent over half of his career specialising in all areas of residential property matters.

In 2005 Philip was retained by most of the offices in Northern Ireland’s largest estate agency, and he was retained on a consultancy basis in relation to their agency, letting and management operations and documents. He has presented to various estate agencies and mortgage brokers in relation to Conveyancing matters and remortgaging, and has experience in advising agents in relation to the Private Tenancies (NI) Order 2006 and the latest regulations in relation to Houses in Multiple Occupation.

Away from law, Philip continues to lecture on and research RMS Titanic and other historic ocean liners, a fascination that he has held from childhood. Philip has lived in the surrounding area all his life and is delighted to be working within his own community much closer to home - he is particularly pleased at now avoiding the daily commute to and from Belfast City Centre!

Sharon Taylor LL.B. - Solicitor
Sharon (front right) has been a valued member of the staff since the practice started and she oversees our Claims and Family Law cases. She has been qualified since 2003 and worked in a large provincial firm in County Down before crossing Belfast Lough to work closer to the North Pole! Sharon has extensive experience in all aspects of private family law, assisting numerous clients through difficult and distressing situations; she has already built up a strong client base in Newtownabbey, the result of her pro-active approach, understanding manner, and clear realistic advice.

Sharon also undertakes our litigation cases and has a growing caseload in claims arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work, trips and slips, together with other more specialised disciplines such as ejectment proceedings and debt recovery.

Away from law, Sharon is a keen golfer.

Joanne Armstrong - Office Manager / Legal Assistant
Joanne (back left) carries out the demanding roles of office manager, qualified legal assistant, and being Philip’s wife. She would admit that the last role is the most demanding! Joanne has twenty five years experience in working in a senior role within solicitors’ offices and throughout her career has worked for some of Northern Ireland’s leading provincial solicitors.

As a qualified Legal Assistant she supports Philip on a day to day basis with the Conveyancing files and is normally the first point of contact with clients, agents or brokers who require clear updates or advice on the progress their cases. Her experience, confidence and efficiency make her an invaluable member of the team.

Christie Miskimmin - Receptionist / Office administrator
Christie (back right) has worked for Philip in his previous practice and he was delighted to welcome her to Armstrong Solicitors. Christie is the friendly face of the firm who welcomes clients to our office and answers the telephone; she combines this role with office administration duties and continues in this practice to prove herself to be a much valued member of the Armstrong Solicitors team.
